Newman Hockey Club History
- Founded in 1922 at New Norcia as St Idlephonsus College Old Boys’ Hockey Club
- Relocated to Churchlands in the 1960’s, the Club became known as Marist Hockey Club
- In 1979 the Club became known as Newman Hockey Club
- Incorporated in 1983
- In 1986 the Newman Sports Complex opened as clubrooms for the Club
- In 2002 merged with the Northern City Knights Hockey Club to strengthen all grades and took on the its new name to recognise the history of both clubs
- The Club currently consists of 18 sides (8 men, 3 women and 7 junior) plus a vibrant minkey program

Newman Knights Club Aims
- Encourage junior participation and eventual player transition to senior level
- Fundraise for a further 2 light posts to accommodate more players at training
- Fundraise with a long term goal of establishing a hockey turf at the grounds
Knights Club Member Statistics
- Total Number of Members listed – 221 members
- Our members are largely from the Western and Northern suburbs:
- 25% of our members live in Innaloo, Woodlands, Doubleview or Churchlands (postcode 6018)
- 18% of our members live in Floreat or Wembley (postcode 6014)
- 11% of our members live in Wembley Downs or Scarborough (postcode 6019)
- Our members also live in City Beach, Leederville, Subiaco, Nedlands, Mosman Park, Mt Hawthorn, Duncraig, Stirling & Sorrento to name just a few.
- Newman Knights members are Company Directors, General Managers, small business owners, accountants, teachers, scientists, engineers, policemen, stockbrokers, hr/sales/marketing/PR managers, journalists, computer technicians, students and even a firefighter!
