24th August 2009 Without Healthway Funding this season, and with new sponsors thin on the ground, the club coffers are being stretched. Hockey WA fees alone cost us $25000, and when you add in payments for player insurance, the costs associated with ground and club house maintenance and expenditure on equipment, the players fees barely cover our costs.
This doesn't even take into account the turf hire fees for which junior and senior players in turf grades pay an annual levy, but which are subsidised by the club to ensure we retain and attract junior players - the future of Newman Knights Hockey Club.
This season AHG (Automotive Holding Group) has become a sponsor of Hockey in WA. AHG are a large group of car dealers that sell both new and second hand cars with most makes and models. They have 32 dealerships and the easiest way to see the extent of this huge group is to visit their web site at www.ahgwa.com.au
As part of the sponsorship deal AHG offered Hockey WA a car to raffle. The tickets are $5 each in books of 20 and the profit to the clubs is $48 per book. The raffle was seen to be a relatively easy way to raise funds for the club. We have handed out 1 book per every 2 senior players or approximately 6 books per senior team equating to 54 books. In addition the Junior teams have taken two books per team, so we are hoping to raise almost $3500 for the club
The club will be liable for unsold books and we have until mid September to make payment to Hockey WA. Please make every effort to sell the tickets allocated to you and your team mates and return the ticket stubs and money to your team rep by the last weekend of August. |
